Breast Cancer Awareness

Each year, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an international campaign to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research. The disease does not discriminate by race, ethnicity, geography, age or gender.

In 2020, worldwide there were 2.3 million women diagnosed and 685,000 deaths. By the end of that year, there were 7.8 million women living with breast cancer who had been diagnosed within the previous five years. Further, 85% of women diagnosed had no family history of breast cancer.

The statistics above, along with other breast cancer information, can be found on a combination of www.breastcancer.org and www.breastcanceruk.org.uk. Along with these, there are other large and grassroots organizations around the world whose efforts focus on breast cancer.
